I rebooted my computer and installed Windows XP SP2. When i did this, I noticed that i had 2 local disks C (51 GB) and E (4 GB). Now here is my problem: I can't download any program because the default location is on the E drive. I've tried to change it to C but i won't let me. I just wanted to know how i can have everything download to C instead of E?Hard Drive Problem (Question)?
when you reinstalled xp, you chose the wrong disc partition. you need to restore and choose the large partition.Hard Drive Problem (Question)?
e must be and additional drive that you installed. maybe a usb or a dvd burner or cd burner

How I fix my Java for my Linux HP Mini?
I bought an HP mini that runs on Linux and for some reason the java will work with some sites, but not with others. I went to the Java website and tried to verify the java version and it said that I do NOT have the recommended version. I download it, but can not figure out how to install it. The instructions say:
To install the Linux RPM (self-extracting) file
Follow these instructions:
1. At the terminal: Type:
su
2. Enter the root password.
3. Change to the directory in which you want to install. Type:
cd
For example, to install the software in the /usr/java/ directory, Type:
cd /usr/java
Note about root access: To install Java in a system-wide location such as/usr/local, you must login as the root user to gain the necessary permissions. If you do not have root access, install Java in your home directory or a subdirectory for which you have write permissions.
4. Change the permission of the file you downloaded to be executable. Type:
chmod a+x jre-6u%26lt;version%26gt;-linux-i586-rpm.bin
5. Start the installation process. Type:
./jre-6u%26lt;version%26gt;-linux-i586-rpm.bin
This displays a binary license agreement. Read through the agreement. Press the spacebar to display the next page. At the end, enter yes to proceed with the installation.
I cant figure this out. How do I get to the ';terminal';? Am I installing the correct java app? If I am, How do I actually get it installed?
The System tab says:

If you are knowledgeable enough to know how to open a terminal in linux I don't think yuo will have much success in installing java. You will always have the best success with all software that is prepared for the version of linux that you are using. If you try to use any software from another version of linux or a ';generic'; linux version of software you will son have problems with missing dependent files and conflicts between files.
Search through the menu on your system for the add and remove programs and use that to try to find java for your version of linux. You system will operate much more smoothly.
Here is a basic tutorial for using the terminal. The terminal is a program that open a window where yuo can type dos like commands. I would suggest that you read both websites before trying to enter the commands.
You could also press the Ctrl and Alt and F1 keys all at the same time and you will have a new screen open where you can type your commands. Ctrl and Alt and F6 or F7 or F8 will get you back to your desktop.

What do these error messages mean?
I'm trying to save a couple hundred dollars and trying to fix my laptop issues myself. I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. I've checked my permissions and I am listed as the administrator. All these errors happened on the same day at the same time. I try to stay out of the control panel so i didn't change anything. The only recent downloads i've had is mcafee and a java update.
When I try to open my pictures, I get this message:
Photo Gallery can't open this picture because you do not have permission to access the file location.
I am able to upload them on other sites such as facebook and view them there.
When I try to open a word document i get this message:
Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment
Sometimes even though it gives this message sometimes it opens and sometimes not.
Could some please walk me thru step by step on how to fix this!!What do these error messages mean?
are you running vista, to get permission, turn on UAC....click on start button and click on the picture on the top right, turn on/off user accounts control %26gt; tick UAC
Best to keep it off cuz viruses will be allowed to make changes to your computer, this was why vista windows was released with this new featureWhat do these error messages mean?
First of all.. saving money that way is foolish. TRUST ME I HAVE SCREWED UP MY COMPUTER SO MANY TIMES......
lol.. STOP IT! Now, do a restore to an earlier time. Like the day before you did all this damage! haha.. that will fix it. now pay me

Problems with my Windows Media Player?
When I put songs on my computer (wheter I download them from the internet or rip them from a CD) I cannot change the information for the songs. I have lots of songs that are in my ';Unknown Artists'; section, but I know who they're by if I could just type it in somewhere.
I've tried clicking twice on the songs to edit, I've tried right clicking and going to Properties, and editing them that way, but it wont let me input any information under properties. I have even gone to file location, and tried to do it from there instead of from the WMP, but even that doesn't work.
I have Vista on my comp, and my WMP is version 11.0 if that helps.
If anyone could tell me how I can edit the artist and album information for my music, I would greatly appreciate it.Problems with my Windows Media Player?
You can right click each song and change info under each heading. You do this in the library. It lists the songs by title, artist, album etc. You right click under the heading you want to change for each particular song. select edit. Then type in what needs to be there. Then hit enter. You can do this for each song and each heading. Its a little work.

Megamanager deletion?
I deleted megamanager/megaupload because it was really annoying software... However, now whenever I want to download something, the window says it can't because ';Megamanager could not be found at this specific location'; (because I deleted it!)... How do I change the computer settings so that my download options aren't toward Megamanager?Megamanager deletion?
You did a dirty removal and consequently there are still elements of the program lying around.
There is probably something in your registry that poits to megamanager.
Download CCleaner and click on the Issues button and run a scan. Hopefully it will identify megamanager as an obsolete key and remove it.
